I.Teaching aims
Knowledge and skill aims:
Ss are able to master the new words “ dog,bear,duck,cat,pig”. Meanwhile students can learn the sentence patterns “ What’s this? It’s a duck/pig/.....”, and use them in the real situation.
Ability aims:
Ss can use the useful expressions in a real situation and their speaking and listening abilities could be improved.
Emotional aims:
Cultivate students ability of communicationand arouse their sense of loving animals.
II.Teaching key points
Ss can master the new words and use “---What’s this?---It’s a duck/pig/.....”to ask and answer questions.
III.Teaching difficult points
Students can master the pronunciation of “ this” and use the useful expressions in a real situation.
IV.Teaching procedures
Step 1: Warming up
Enjoy the song “ Baby animals?” with the students. And have a free talk
about animalsby using the following sentences:
—What’s this?—It’s a duck/pig/.....
Step 2:Presentation
(1) Having a conversation with the students.
T:Before we have class , you will be devided into three groups.
① Show the pictures about animals and ask the students some questions.
T: what’s this ?
Ss: . . .
T: Yes ,you’re right ,but do you know how to express them in English?
Ss: . . .
T: Don’t worry.Let me tell you .It’s a pig/duck/cat/bear/dog.
(2)Learning the new words.
①Show the picture with PPT to elicit the new words: “ dog,bear,duck,cat,pig”.
②Write down the words on the blackboard: first read the words together and then read in different groups. ( e. g. boy group and girl group)
Step 3: Practice
①Practice the pronunciation by playing the game “High voice & Low voice”
②Playing thegame “What’s missing?”. It could help students to remember the words and make the class more interesting.
Step 4: Consolidation
①Role play .Let the students use the part “Let’s talk”to role play .
T: Now you should come to perform your dialogue in front of the classby groups .The best group will get a flower.
Students perform the dialogues by groups.
S1:What’s this?
S2: It’s a duck/dog/bear......
② Play the game “ Sentence dragon”.
Divide the whole class into some groups. The first student in each group will ask the second one: “ What’s this? ” and the second student should answer: “ It’s a. . . ”
Step 5: Summary & Homework
(1)Interview the animals to your family members or your friends .
(2)Share the result with your class and talk about it.
